The founder of Support A Soldier, Vavette Blevins, is a Texas
native. She believes in supporting the many Soldiers, Sailors,
Marines and Airmen who bravely serve to defend our proud nation.
Inspired by tales of her grandfather speaking of   great American’s
who gladly gave to soldiers deploying during World War II, she has
committed herself to giving to those who deploy in today’s War on
Terrorism.
With each day there are more and more Soldiers being deployed
around the world in support of the Global War on Terrorism.   It is
imperative that we show our appreciation and support for the brave
men and women in uniform who sacrifice on a daily basis so that
we can enjoy our many freedoms.   Please remember that these
Soldiers are every day Americans, like you and I.   They are our
sons and daughters, brothers and sisters, neighbors and friends.
At Support A Soldier we know first hand the many sacrifices our military men and women make.
Family separations, long work hours, arduous training, and the ability to say goodbye at a
moments notice are just a few of the sacrifices our Soldiers make for our country on a daily basis.
Our Mission:
Our mission is simple: to show support for our military men and women who are deployed around
the world in support of the Global War on Terrorism. We operate on the premise that our good
works will promote the morale and well being of each and every Soldier, Sailor, Marine and
Airmen that we support.
Board of Directors for Support A Soldier:
With the help of our supporters and the knowledge and experience of our Board of Directors, SAS
continues to grow and increase our ability to support our deployed men and women in uniform.
We appreciate the efforts and insight of all of our team members and are ever seeking caring
individuals to join our team.

the 4th Infantry Division's Signal Company. He is the co-founder of Support A Soldier and is our

a career non-commissioned officer in the Air Force.   Lee graduated from Central Texas College
with a degree in Applied Management.   He currently resides in Killeen, Texas.
Bill and Jerry Ann Simpson
Bill and Jerry Ann Simpson have been in business for themselves as arts

to be a stay at home Mom.   The business grew and Bill quit his "real" job as an engineer to join
her in creating and making items for chain retail stores like Hallmark, Michaels, Hobby Lobby
and mail order catalogs like Herrschners.   The Simpson’s began as supporters of Support A
Soldier in July of 2005 and are now the brains behind SAS fundraising activities.

Adopt A Soldier, Sailor, Airman or Marine

By adopting a Soldier you can provide aid and comfort to one or several of our many
deployed military men and women.   We ask Supporters who adopt a Soldier to send a
card, letters, and care packages at least every other month to your adopted Soldier.   If
you know of someone else who would like to help Support A Soldier, please do not
give them your adopted Soldiers address, please have them sign up through our
website, so that we can assure that all of our deployed Soldiers get adopted

SUPPORT A SOLDIER is a nationwide program based at Fort Hood,
Texas.   Our goal is to ensure that our deployed military members know they are
appreciated during their deployments to Iraq and elsewhere around the world.
What began as a small endeavor to support local Soldiers, has now grown into a
nationwide effort that supports Soldiers, Sailors, Marines and Airmen deployed
worldwide.
**************************************************************************************************
SUPPORT A SOLDIER implemented the "Adopt-A-Soldier" program
in January 2006. We are proud to say that it has been a huge success.   Thanks to
great Americans nationwide, 4302 Soldiers, Sailors, Marines and Airmen
deployed around the globe have been adopted.   We hope to increase that number
daily.   While we continue to send care packages to our deployed military
members, we hope that the       "Adopt-A-Soldier" program will help us reach a
larger number of soldiers in need.
**************************************************************************************************
SUPPORT A SOLDIER has to provided 2520 caring Sponsors a
means to provide support to deployed military men and women, and in a combined
effort they have adopted 4302 men and women in uniform.   With the support of
thousands of caring Americans we have provided over 53,624 letters of support
and over 31,812 care packages that have been sent around the globe.   We hope
that you will spread the word about our good works, so that we can increase our
numbers in the upcoming year.
