ARMY will employ a range of retention and transfer bonuses and allowances as part of a comprehensive $1 billion retention and recruitment package.

The Government’s package aimed to boost the number of full-time personnel serving in the ADF, according to VCDF Lt-Gen Ken Gillespie.

“This represents the first phase of a new ADF retention and recruitment strategy to meet the challenge of sustaining and growing Defence’s military workforce,” Lt-Gen Gillespie said.

“In maintaining the ADF as an employer of choice, retention bonuses and allowances will be used as a short-term measure until other major career and remuneration reforms are in place.”
