Hello. I’m writing to you about a non profit organization that myself and partners have started. The program is called “International Troop Support Program”. We have a temporary website at the moment which is http://www.myspace.com/internationaltroopsupport. I have written to you in the hope of getting your endorsement and support for this Australian based program supporting the defence force and their families. Along with supporting our firefighters, law enforcement and medical professions. Being retired military personnel myself and serving in the Royal Australian Navy. I understand the need’s and support our defence force personnel need while serving over seas in war times and in peace keeping missions. And far away from loved ones, families and friends. I have many friends serving within the military and 10 military personnel that I have adopted through other programs which run within the United States. I have done a lot of research and honestly believe that this is a great idea for the Australian military. I am involved with various programs based within the United States. They are Soldiers Angels, Adopt A Marine, Support A Soldier, Adopt A US Soldier. All are wonderful programs supporting the military with respect and admiration along with care parcels. I have no doubt this program will be welcomed by all whom become involved. Businesses have been approached for their ideas and thoughts and are keen to come on board with sponsorship. I have approached civilians, friends and military for their input into this program and they all like the idea. They think it’s a good program.
There are no similar programs running in Australia similar to what the United States have set up to support their troops. A few of which I have listed for you. I am affiliated with the Adopt A Marine program and International Protection Agency Inc (www.ipa-usa.net ) Founded by Trevor Jeary. Who is my partner as well and his company is a new way of employing retired military, police officers ,fire fighters, EMS and EMT’S
www.ryanrust.com runs the adopt a marine program
http://www.anysoldier.com/ founded by Sergeant Brian Horn
http://soldiersangels.org/ founded by Patti Patton-Bader

I honestly think this is a wonderful unique idea to support our troops and boost moral while they are serving overseas in a way not yet approached. It will boost our relationships with other military support programs and boost our relationships with the military and our relationships with the United States, United Kingdom, Canada. By showing support with this program based within Australia. I have support letters from Ann Johnson who is the CEO of Adopt a US Soldier program in the United States., Trevor
Jeary founder of International Protection Agency Inc, Adopt A Marine and support from our own Australian deployed military. Please forgive my letter writing skills this is all new to me and am much better in explaining this idea in person. This program is something I truly believe in with all my heart. And a unique way for the general public to show there support for our brave men and woman serving our country in this war on terrorism and beyond. A way the general public can show they care for the troops protecting our homes from harm.
No offence but the Australian Defence Force based program “Message to the troops” isn’t enough in our day and age. www.defence.gov.au/message_to_troops.htm There are these programs based in Australia also. http://www.rsl.org.au/ http://www.defence.gov.au/DPE/dpsa/personnel.htm

Don’t get me wrong these are good programs but our fighting men and woman need more while deployed in harms way serving their country and protecting our freedom. A continual support net work where the public get behind our troops by sending continual care parcels and letters or what ever they need.
These brave military fighting in Iraq, Afghanistan and others deployed in harms way on peace keeping missions need more than messages. They need the support like the USA based programs which the military of the United States have embraced. I speak to a lot of deployed military from a lot of nations they want a program like what myself and partners will offer them. I have backing from here in Australia, The United Kingdom, Canada and The United States.
This is the main aim of International Troop Support program in point form.
• Adopting a defence force personnel via appropriate channels(Military personnel send their details to the program and we then set them up with a civilian adoptee
• Civilian involvement ( These are people from the general public after going through identification checks whom adopt a defence force personnel, send out letters and care parcels.)
• Care Parcels (These include a list of things from batteries, magazines, papers, two minute noodles, can foods, blankets, pens, writing paper etc. What ever can be sent to the country they are serving in and depending on those countries guidelines).
• Care parcels for fire fighters, law enforcement deployed overseas.
• Care parcels for the K9 Units and their handlers.
• Support in bringing K9 dogs home that where adopted overseas.
• Entertainment in various forms for the troops deployed overseas at certain times through out the year.
